Frequently asked questions.
Do you only work with artists and creatives?
No! I love working with artists, but you do not need to identify as an artist to collaborate in therapy with me. The arts are for everyone, but not everyone will make it their life’s work. I am a queer-affirming and neurodiversity-affirming therapist.
As well, I am committed to cultural competence and cultural humility in my therapy practice and my personal life.
Do you work with clients in states other than Colorado?
Not at this time. I am licensed in Colorado, and my clients reside in Colorado. However, there is hope on the horizon that professional mental health counselors will be able to work with clients in other states that have licensure reciprocity through the Counseling Compact!
Do you offer virtual therapy?
Yes! I only offer virtual sessions. If in-person therapy is a priority for you, it is definitely something to consider. However, there are advantages to virtual therapy. In addition to saving you time and energy getting to and from an office space, there is an opportunity to tune in and focus in the one-on-one virtual environment. And, you can join our sessions from the comfort of your own space! Zencare is the platform I use for our video sessions. It is HIPAA compliant and easy to use.
Do you accept insurance?
No, I do not take insurance at this time. However, some insurance companies will allow for partial reimbursement for out-of-network mental health providers. Check with your insurance company to learn more. I am happy to provide you with a superbill that can be submitted to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Check out these 8 Reasons to See an Out-of-Network Therapist.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
Yes! I reserve a few sliding scale openings based on need. Feel free to inquire when we meet for our free consultation.
Do you provide mental health diagnoses?
Yes and no. I am not required to submit mental health diagnoses because I do not work with insurance companies. However, I will ask about mental health symptoms you may be experiencing, and if it is helpful, we may discuss a diagnosis in order to best support your mental health needs. I am trained to do so. I am careful to diagnose because I am committed to de-pathologizing difficult emotions. For example, to feel anxiety is to be human. To experience heightened, debilitating anxiety would fall under the realm of diagnosis. If you are in need of medication management for mental health symptoms, I will share referrals with you of trusted psychiatric providers.
